MUST HEAR: The Famine Has Begun by David Wilkerson

Art Katz

THE FAMINE HAS BEGUN BY DAVID WILKERSON

Listen | Download mp3 file

Out of the 8th Chapter of Amos, Wilkerson preaches a prophetic message for the Church today. This is not a famine of bread or a thirst for water but is a famine from the Word of the Lord. He speaks of shepherds who do not preach on sin and just preach messages to comfort people in their sins. There is a great need for burning bush preachers who have been in the presence of God and minister the Word of the Lord in a day of famine.

THE CHURCH of GOD'S GLORY! -by David Wilkerson

"In that day shall the branch of the Lord be beautiful and glorious,
and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them
that are escaped of Israel" (Isaiah 4:2).

All through the Old Testament, the branch that is mentioned as
coming forth is none other than Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory.
According to Isaiah, there will be a church to whom He will appear
beautiful, excellent and comely. They will be passionately in love
with a Man whom they see as glorious.

Right now there is a remnant church that desires nothing but Christ.
He is the center of attraction and the people focus totally on Him.
These are the ones Isaiah refers to as being ". . . escaped of Israel"
(same verse). Indeed, the last-days church that will be filled with
God's glory is more than just a forgiven church. It is a holy church,
one that has been purged by the consuming fire of God's convicting
Word. Holiness and purity characterize its people. Isaiah adds,
"He that is left in Zion . . . shall be called holy, even every one that
is written among the living in Jerusalem" (verse 3).

The best evidence here that Isaiah is referring to the last-days
church is found in verse 5: "And the Lord will create upon every
dwelling place . . . a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining
of a flaming fire by night" (Isaiah 4:5).

Isaiah is predicting that God will create a new pillar and cloud to
cover His people. We know that when Isaiah prophesied this, the
pillar and cloud in the wilderness had already passed away.
Obviously, this was something that had yet to be created—a new thing!

The cloud has to do with direction and comfort, with preservation
from evil and terror, and with guidance. This means God's last-days
remnant people will have clear direction.

God is saying "I am going to see you through. Even in the worst
storm, you will have clear direction from Me because I will give
you a pillar of fire to lead you as I did Israel in the wilderness!"

GOD’S GOAL FOR US IS PEACE AND REST by David Wilkerson

GOD’S GOAL FOR US IS PEACE AND REST

Note from Gary Wilkerson:

Before going to be with the Lord, my father, David Wilkerson, had filled many journals and prepared unpublished materials. We are honored to be able to continue sharing these with you through the David Wilkerson Daily Devotional. Before his passing he had asked me to join him in writing the Pulpit Series Newsletter and these daily devotions, so you will be hearing from me as well. I have taken on the responsibility as president of World Challenge and appreciate your prayers for continued grace to continue the works of Jesus that my father began.

Today's devotional:

God's ultimate goal for all his children is abundant life. He never intended that we go through life focused on our sins and failures. The good news is that we serve a God of absolute love—a God of mercies who desires to bring his beloved ones into a place high above all turmoil. But we cannot take our place, seated with Christ in the heavenlies, until we are fully identified with his death and resurrection.

There can be no breakthrough into ascension life without experiencing death at the cross. The Holy Spirit has put within us a knowledge that we can never truly live until we truly die. We seem to know we have a date with death, a destiny relating to the cross of Christ.

Take a good look at where we are, with all our fears, emptiness, loneliness, failures, and compromising with sin. Consider how little of the Lord's promised peace we really possess. We have come up far short of what we know an overcoming Christian should be, yet we know God's Word speaks clearly of victory, peace, and freedom from sin's dominion. We have seen some who have broken through to that beautiful life of assurance and would like to ask: How did you arrive at such victory? And then we wonder how we can break through.

The Holy Spirit must bring us to the cross and make us face the reality of dying to the world and sin. The moment we begin to seek the Lord diligently with a desire to be under his lordship in all things, we will be irresistibly drawn by the Spirit. We will be brought to the end of ourselves, stripped, weakened, and without confidence in our flesh.

I am convinced the Holy Spirit is bringing his church back to the glorious truths of identification with Christ in death, resurrection, and ascension life.
Death can be very frightening, especially if you cannot see the glory on the other side of it. But he assures us of his everlasting love, in spite of our failures, and gives us peace and the joy and hope of his resurrection life.
