Be Not Allured By Worldly Lusts - Clement of Rome
Let us, then, repent with our whole heart, that no one of us may perish amiss. For if we have commands and engage in withdrawing from idols and instructing others, how much more ought a soul already knowing God not to perish. Rendering, therefore, mutual help, let us raise the weak also in that which is good, that all of us may be saved and convert one another and admonish. And not only now let us seem to believe and give heed, when we are admonished by the elders; but also when we take our departure home, let us remember thecommandments of the Lord, and not be allured back by worldly lusts, but let us often and often draw near and try to make progress in theLord's commands, that we all having the same mind may be gathered together for life.
For the Lord said, I come to gather all nations and tongues. This means the day of His appearing, when He will come and redeem us— each one according to his works. And the unbelievers will see His glory and might, and, when they see the empire of the world in Jesus, they will be surprised, saying, Woe to us, because You were, and we knew not and believed not and obeyed not the elders who show us plainly of our salvation. And their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be a spectacle unto all flesh. It is of the great day of judgment He speaks, when they shall see those among us who were guilty of ungodliness and erred in their estimate of the commands of Jesus Christ.
The righteous, having succeeded both in enduring the trials and hating the indulgences of the soul, whenever they witness how those who have swerved and denied Jesus by words or deeds are punished with grievous torments in fire unquenchable, will give glory to their God and say, There will be hope for him who has served God with his whole heart.
Alone With God - A.W. Tozer
And Jesus went up on the mountain, and there He sat with His disciples. --John 6:3
Just prior to this miraculous multiplying of the bread and fish, Jesus "went up on a mountainside and sat down with his disciples"(6:3). That fact is noteworthy. It seems plain that Jesus withdrew purposely from the great press of people who had been pursuing Him.
There are some things that you and I will never learn when others are present. I believe in church and I love the fellowship of the assembly. There is much we can learn when we come together on Sundays and sit among the saints. But there are certain things that you and I will never learn in the presence of other people.
Unquestionably, part of our failure today is religious activity that is not preceded by aloneness, by inactivity. I mean getting alone with God and waiting in silence and quietness until we are charged with God's Spirit. Then, when we act, our activity really amounts to something because we have been prepared by God for it....
Now, in the case of our Lord, the people came to Him, John reports, and He was ready for them. He had been quiet and silent. He had sat alone with His disciples and meditated. Looking upward, He waited until the whole hiatus of divine life moved down from the throne of God into His own soul. He was a violin tuned. He was a battery recharged. He was poised and prepared for the people when they came. Faith Beyond Reason, 130,133. "Lord, I'll spend a lot of time in the company of people today, but just now I come in quietness and silence to wait for You to fill me. Amen."

Featured Sermon: BEWARE OF AMBITION BY CHUCK SMITH
![]() |

A Word to Christian Artists, Musicians, Pastors, and the Rest of Us comment id: 999 |
| "Beware of Ambition" is the first message I have ever heard Chuck Smith preach. Wow. What a clean, well-targeted word. God meant for me to hear it, because when God began to prosper me in school, I immediately began spreading the word about my good grades. Hidden beneath the pretext of giving a "Look what God has done for me" testimony, I must admit that it was really motivated by the fleshly instinct that Pastor Smith describes in this sermon. Even when it is done somewhat subconsciously, striving for and basking in the praise that God deserves is a grave mistake, even (especially?) when one is supposedly doing it for God. |

The Sinner's Savior
Gospel blessings are intended for those who have transgressed and are under condemnation, for who else would value forgiveness and justification? I know myself of no gospel for men who have not sinned. I know of no New Testament promises intended for those who have never broken the law; but I perceive all through the wondrous pages of the gospel that mercy’s eye and heart are set upon those who are guilty and self-condemned.
The Eternal Watcher is looking over the vast ocean of life, not that he may spy out the vessels which sail along proudly in safety, but that he may see those who are almost wrecks. “He looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profiteth me not; he will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.” Our Lord was more moved at the sight of sickness than of health, and wrought his greatest wonders among fevers, leprosies, and palsies. This is the end and object of the gospel, namely, to save the unrighteous; the God of the gospel is he that “justifieth the ungodly,” “for when we were yet without strength, Christ died for the ungodly.” “God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

Opportunity for SI Users to reach Unreached people groups in China
Saints,
Asia Harvest is a ministry helping support indigenous workers in many countries where the name of Jesus Christ has not been named and in people groups that are totally unreached for the gospel.
I recently wrote to brother Paul H. who is the founder of Asia Harvest and he stated this opportunity. I wanted to share this with SermonIndex. Could we not from this site help support 1-3 missionaries to each of these unreached people groups in China?
You can signup to subscribe to donate $30 a month to help support a worker: http://asiaharvest.org/asian-workers-fund/ or mail in to one of the addreses here: http://asiaharvest.org/contact-us/ (DO MAKE A NOTE that you are helping the unreached people groups listed on SermonIndex.net and even write the specific name of the group as God leads you).
"Below is a short list of the unreached people groups just in China WHERE WE HAVE WORKERS AVAILABLE NOW WHO NEED SUPPORT. These workers are solid, evangelical/Biblical believers. The past few years we have gone back and carefully re-evaluated each worker we support. If anyone wants to support workers among these groups we provide prayer cards and updates twice a year, but the house church leaders don't want outside people visiting them or wanting to train them etc. This has always led to persecution and all kinds of persecution in the past. There are numerous (hundreds) of other godly Asian missionaries we help, but in many cases (eg. Muslim countries, India, Laos) we are unable to provide cards because of their security issues. "

MUST HEAR: The Famine Has Begun by David Wilkerson
![]() |
|
Out of the 8th Chapter of Amos, Wilkerson preaches a prophetic message for the Church today. This is not a famine of bread or a thirst for water but is a famine from the Word of the Lord. He speaks of shepherds who do not preach on sin and just preach messages to comfort people in their sins. There is a great need for burning bush preachers who have been in the presence of God and minister the Word of the Lord in a day of famine.

MUST HEAR: When God Stepped Down from Heaven by Duncan Campbell
|
Saints,
Listen to this first-hand account of the Lewis Revival during the early 1950s. Duncan Campbell was God's instrument in this extraordinary awakening. In this tape Campbell recounts point-by-point this three-year movement of the Holy Spirit over the Hebrides Islands. Thousands were converted, conviction overwhelmed villages, outward sin disappeared, and prayer meetings were packed! Your heart will be thrilled as you listen to this tape about this heaven-sent revival in Lewis.

FREE Secret Underground Church Conference Call - Good Friday April 18th
Dear Saints,
Brothers and sisters around the world pay a heavy price to fellowship with one another. Yet, to the persecuted brethren, fellowship is so precious they will go to great lengths to be with with and encourage one another. Often their meetings will last for several hours into the night and the wee hours of the morning.
This coming Friday 04.18.14 Sermon Index and Persecution Watch will host a Free Secret Underground Church Conference Call. There is no cost other than your long distance. The call will be 6 hours long. For the first 3 hours there will be brothers who will exhort from the word followed by the second 3 hours of responding to the given word by prayer, praise, testimony, worship, etc. As the Spirit leads. Lord willing we will even keep the line open to pray for the global harvest and the persecuted church in the early hours of Sat. morning.
Time of call.......
7 p.m. To 1 a.m. Eastern
6 p.m. To 12 a.m. Central
5 p.m. To 11 p.m. Mountain
4 p.m. To 10 p.m. Pacific
Call number and pass code are: 218-548-8367 passcode: 261475#
If you can stay the entire 6 hours that would be a blessing. You will probably not notice the time flying by. But you may come and go on the call as the Spirit leads (or as long your cell battery holds out :-)
This call is open to all. Please promote thru your social networks. Lord willing, look forward to praying with you all this coming week.
In His Bonds,
Blaine Scogin

Important Book Free eBook - Touching Godliness Through Submission
Saints,
This book changed my life while reading it in Nepal after visiting India. There were areas of my life where I was submitting to no elder brother and I was beginning to think I was more wise and better then all the leaders I was meeting with. This was a deception growing in my walk with the Lord. Thankfully through this book God brought me to a place of brokenness with Him where I was able to submit to leadership in the body of Christ again and receive the great benefits from this submission.
I believe this is one of the great problems in the West right now is everyone is individualistic and we end up thinking we are always right and no one can stop us. This blind independence shows immaturity in the Lord and a lack of understanding the ways of God. We have been recommending this free ebook in the SermonIndex community guidelines section for almost 2 years. We encourage saints to read this volume:

Touching Godliness Through Submission by K.P. Yohannan
ORDER BOOK:
NEW AMAZON EDITION:
"In his typically penetrating and sometimes controversial fashion, K.P. Yohannan touches a live nerve when he insists that the bedrock of Christian living is full obedience to the Lordship of Christ, extending to humble submission to the structures of life God has set in place. Here is liberty not bondage for here is the walk of humility."
PASTOR CHARLES PRICE, Senior Pastor, The Peoples Church, Toronto
Touching Godliness is on my top-10 Christian books recommendation to saints.

MUST HEAR: Christ Magnified In Our Bodies by Leonard Ravenhill

mp3 download:
| Christ Magnified In Our Bodies by Leonard Ravenhill Topic: Obedience | |
| Description: Asked why he was used of the Lord so greatly in China, Hudson Taylor replied, 'God had looked long for a man weak enough, and He found me.' He takes the weak things of the world to confound the mighty. Spiritual wisdom does not come with years; neither does maturity. The key to both is obedience. Whatsoever He saith unto YOU, do it. | |

THE SUDDEN COMING TSUNAMI OF CHRISTIAN PERSECUTION BY BROTHER GREG - http://gospelfellowships.net/the-sudden-coming-tsunami-of-christian-persecution-by-brother-greg/
Just as the tsunami came without warning, so will the end times persecution come upon many Christians unawares. I am not arguing for any type of position of the rapture of the church, whether pre or post, in this short article. Yet I believe firmly that we will all feel like we are in the great tribulation when this end time persecution wave hits the Church. The birth pains will become worse and worse, and many of those that have believed in a pre-tribulation rapture that would have them escape from all suffering will be 100% unprepared for what is going to come upon them.

Learn Secrets from the Persecuted Underground Church in China in a New Book
Is Persecution Coming to North America? A New Book says “Yes.” Over 100 contributors to a free kindle ebook and paperback bring something unique for Christians to read.
ABBOTSFORD, BC, This new book published is not a conventional book that you see on the top selling charts of new releases. The book, Principles for the Gathering of Believers Under the Headship of Jesus Christ (ISBN-13: 978-1489557315) has ranked in the top 10 most downloaded Christian Kindle books on Amazon. Another interesting thing that has made this volume special is that there have been over 100 contributors to it from different evangelical believers in North America.
With over 60 principles shared from the underground Church in the book of Acts and also modern underground Churches in China, Iran and North Korea. This volume is an important tool for evangelical christians to help prepare for future persecution of any type.
A quote by Richard Wurmbrand shares perhaps part of the problem of Western Christianity in that we live very self-centered lives free from suffering and pain: "I have found truly jubilant Christians only in the Bible, in the Underground Church and in prison." The underground church in China is full of joy and peace even though they are under great suffering. But they are happy because they are sharing the Gospel with everyone in China. Yet we in America can hold the Gospel to ourselves and never speak when it makes us uncomfortable or makes someone upset.
Many ministry leaders have resounded to the need and importance of this new book, here are two responses:
John Robb, Chairman of International Prayer Council, says ”Principles for the Gathering of Believers is a compilation of pristine principles that are derived from the Scriptures as well as the experience of underground movements of believers in other lands. It suggests ways in which the Church needs to function to enable the full expression of Christ the Head through His diverse and interdependent Body. By observing these important principles in our worship and other gatherings, we can see a return to genuine, New Testament Christianity that is more relational than religious and will be used of the Lord to bring His transformation to the communities and nations in which we live.”Steve Gallagher, Founder of Pure Life Ministries, was equally as impressed. He adds, “The Underground Church is a vague concept to American believers–typically the fodder for Christian movies meant to entertain. But storm clouds are gathering and the religious freedom the Church has enjoyed in the West has been squandered and is now slipping through our fingers–one infringement at a time. For once, the Christian body has received the solution before the problem has arisen and overcome it. This book offers exactly what its title promises: “Principles for the Gathering of Believers Under the Headship of Jesus Christ.” It is a charter for house churches forced to find their way during a time of hot persecution. This comprehensive volume covers all the essentials to maintaining spiritual vitality in the face of tyranny.”
The principles book can be downloaded freely in all major eBook formats as well as being available in paperback format: http://gospelfellowships.net/principles-book/
