Help North Korean Children and Believers In Jesus Christ

Saints,

This is a wonderful way to help our North Korean brothers and sisters in the Lord.

--

Dear Gregory,

Mrs. Jung has escaped twice from North Korea into China. She was captured both times, however, by secret police in China and returned to North Korea, where she has spent months suffering in prison camps for her "crime."

During Mrs. Jung's first escape she met Wing, a Chinese-Korean man, who offered her shelter in his apartment. In that arrangement, one thing led to another, and Mrs. Jung found herself in love and then pregnant.

Four months into her pregnancy, however, Mrs. Jung was discovered and turned over to North Korean authorities. She and her unborn child managed to survive three brutal months in prison, and she was released with the warning of a more severe punishment if she attempted to defect again.

Approaching full-term, however, Mrs. Jung knew that she had to return to China---her child's future depended upon it. Her daring effort was successful, and she was reunited with her lover. Their baby, whom they named Gil, was born just days later.

When Gil was 2 years old, however, Mrs. Jung was again discovered by Chinese police and deported to North Korea---but without her son. And this time, North Korean authorities kept their promise of more severe punishment. Released years later, she has since been kept under tight surveillance, making future escapes very difficult.

Gil, now 13, still lives in China with his father, Wing. He has not seen his mother since her deportation. Wing has recently contacted some of our partners who serve along the North Korean border, and they have agreed to include Mrs. Jung in a food aid distribution network that is funded in part through gifts to our North Korean Christians Fund. They've also smuggled an illegal cell phone to her so that the family can communicate on a limited basis.

Although life is hard for Mrs. Jung, she is receiving food aid, and she has certainly been exposed to the gospel through her contact with the believers in our food aid network, although we don't know if she has responded yet in repentance and faith. Please pray for her!

Hoping with Mrs. Jung,

Elisabeth Servant
Director, North Korean Christians Fund

MP3 Sermon: A Call to Those Who Care About the Honor of God by Carter Conlon

A Call to Those Who Care About the Honor of God by Carter Conlon

Topic: Honor Of God
Scripture(s): Nehemiah 1:1-11
Description: October 4, 2009 - There is a spiritual wall that separates those who are truly serving God and those who are bringing carnality into His church. If God is going to be honored in this generation we must begin to rebuild the testimony of Christ in our lives. You may ask yourself how does this happen? How do I begin to rebuild this wall? The first thing we do is apply the truth of God's Word to every area of our life where we are not in agreement with Him. Secondly, we must remove the rubble in our homes that has blocked the door to the prayer closet. Lastly, call our children by example into the work of God. Suddenly there will be a people arise and begin to build according the ways of God and they will do it all for His honor!

Free eBook - Principles For The Gathering Of Believers

Saints,

I am excited to announce we are getting much closer to releasing the free eBook resource: "Principles For The Gathering of Believers Under the headship of Jesus Christ". This book I am compiling has come from a deep burden to see believers gathering together to edify and encourage each other. Many elder brothers have been giving wonderful feedback, input and contributions. I believe in many ways this book is an effort from the body of Christ and not just one person.

Please as the Lord leads you do be in prayer for myself and others as we edit and work on the final stages of the book.

Excerpt:
THIS VOLUME HAS BEEN developed out of a burden to see vital gatherings of God's people (the body of Christ) established in these end times. The time of pressure and persecution that is coming world-wide (Matthew 24:9) will be such that it will demand the unity of the true body of Christ.

Some specific goals for this book being written are:
1.) To assist true Bible believing churches to develop House Bible studies for personal growth and for inviting neighbors, to make disciples;
2.) To encourage true believers to leave churches that no longer teach the whole Word of God, to then join a true Bible believing church or to establish a House church to make disciples.

THE CHRISTIAN AND WORLDLINESS by Ray Stedman

THE CHRISTIAN AND WORLDLINESS

by Ray C. Stedman

What does Christian separation mean? Your effectiveness as a Christian hangs on your concept of what separation means. Perhaps most of our personal and church problems would be solved if we had a biblical concept of what it really is.

This question of separation has been a bone of contention among Christians for many, many years. Though I believe that the Scriptures are very clear on the matter, still I am sure that we will not solve all the problems in this article. But we do want to take a good look at the subject.

You won't read very far in the New Testament without becoming aware of some very pointed warnings to Christians concerning their danger from the world around them. Second Corinthians 6:14 is a very well known passage. "Be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers...and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty."
These words, "come out from among them, and be ye separate" have been nailed to the masthead of many denominations and church groups as the supremely important idea that Christians should heed in these days.

Then we have that very strong passage in I John 2:15-17, "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world...For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof, but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever."

James comes out with probably the strongest word of all along this line for he says very flatly and plainly, "...know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is an enemy of God."

Christians have rightly taken these passages very seriously. They have recognized that the Lord would not speak so plainly if there was not something serious involved. They've remembered the sad words of Paul concerning one of the young men who traveled with him: "...Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world." Christians have often had reason to see that a worldly Christian is a useless Christian. He is of no value to the world and no good to God. No man can serve two masters!

So Christians, as a result of these warnings, have through the centuries drawn up lists of things they considered worldly. Naturally, their ideas have differed widely on these matters. Whenever people had difficulty with some temptation or some particular type of recreation or some activity which gave them trouble, they learned a lesson from it, or thought they did, and marked that particular thing down as worldly.

Coming Persecution And The Baptism Of The Holy Spirit by Brian Long

Saints,

Brian Long passionately shares on the vital subject of coming persecution to the Church in North America. From the book of Habbukuk he shares how the prophet struggled with coming judgment in his day and we must accept the same in our day. He also gives the solution of the great truth of the true baptism of the Holy Spirit for to reach the lost world and make disciples. This message is needful to be heard by the whole Church in this hour.

Resist the Temptation to Take Revenge by Zac Poonen

In II Samuel 4:8, we read of two men who killed Ishbosheth (Saul’s son) and brought his head to David hoping that David would reward them for it. But David was so angry with them that he commanded that they be killed immediately. David believed that vengeance belonged to God and he would never take vengeance himself or permit anyone else to take it.

This is an important principle that we must remember at all times. Romans 12:19 is very clear on this. God does not need our help to administer justice or to take vengeance. What would you do if somebody fell down at your feet to worship you? You would do what Peter did - lift him up and say, “Don’t worship me, worship belongs to God.” Just as much as worship belongs to God, vengeance also belongs to God? When we try to take revenge on someone, that’s not any different from accepting worship. We have no more right to take revenge than to receive worship. Whatever harm anyone may have done to us, we must leave it to God to deal with him in His own way and in His own time. We must not even desire anything evil for that person.

When we serve the Lord, we will come across other believers who speak evil of us or try to destroy our ministry. I have discovered that we cannot serve the Lord effectively, without having many people speaking evil of us, spreading false stories about us, accusing us of teaching false doctrine etc. We will then be tempted to take revenge on them. We must resist that temptation firmly. Leave them in God’s hands. The Bible says that there is only one Judge who has the right to destroy (James 4:12). So we must leave their fate in the hands of that one Judge.

If the Lord has anointed you, no-one can destroy your ministry, because it has come from heaven. Many people accused Jesus and Paul of being false teachers. Jesus was even accused of casting out demons by the power of the prince of devils. But Jesus never wasted His time answering them. The sincere were not led astray by such false accusations either. Only the insincere went astray.

We read in James 2:6 that rich believers were oppressing poor believers in those days and personally dragging them to court. This is unbelievable. But it is happening today too! One has to be both rich and wicked to drag another believer to court. It is amazing how blind believers can be. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 6 that the same thing was happening in Corinth. Such rich believers have not understood that there is only one Judge who has the right to judge and take revenge. They are sitting on God’s throne. So Paul warned them that those who do such things will never enter God’s kingdom (Read 1 Corinthians 6:9 in the context of the first 8 verses). If someone has done wrong to you, hasn’t God seen that? Isn’t He able to deal with that person? If you believe that and you believe in an Almighty God, then leave it to God to deal with him.

What an opportunity to glean precious gems from the heart of this man of God as he speaks about another man of God who was a great influence in his life. Reading a person's biography is a wonderful way of not only learning about that person's life, but getting a deeper understanding of the message of their life. Video: Compromise Kills by Jon Speed

Saints, a powerful message on abortion and the rights of the innocent.

Daily Readings with Basilea Schlink - August 12

Whoever lives like a happy and carefree child, completely dependent upon God, will experience God, as a Father, leading him in wonderful ways. He will see how

God solves all his difficulties and problems, cares for him and intervenes on his behalf in every situation. It is wise to leave behind all human security and to seek only the Kingdom of God, His righteousness, His approval. Those who do so will find that all their needs are met.

Islamic Friendly Bibles

Here is a summary:

Western missions agencies have been producing Bible translations that remove “Father”, “Son”, and “Son of God”, because these terms are offensive to Muslims. For example, Frontiers worked with a Wycliffe/SIL consultant to produce True Meaning of the Gospel of Christ, an Arabic translation which removes “Father” in reference to God, and removes or redefines “Son,” e.g. the Great Commission in Mt 28:19 reads, “Cleanse them by water in the name of God, his Messiah and his Holy Spirit.” A Turkish translation of Matthew, produced by Frontiers and distributed by SIL, uses “guardian” for “Father” and “representative” or “proxy” for “Son.” Biblically and theologically, this is a tragedy, as removing “Father” and “Son” compromises our understanding of the Trinity, the person and work of Jesus, and the Bible itself. Despite years of internal protest, resignations, articles, private and group confrontation, these agencies remain committed to this agenda. But followers of Christ around the world are responding. Prophetic word from Art Katz

Taken from
Decade of nineties - 8:40 http://artkatzministries.org/decade-of-the-nineties/

Preached some more than 20 years ago:

"In a word, I am anticipating that we are going to see in this decade the alignment of the religious forces that will prevail until the end of the age, the age may end by the year of 2000, but if it goes on a little before that or a little longer than that, be assured that what happens between now and that time, this ten year period will cast the major and basic formation of the thing that will prevail until the coming of the Lord.

You are going to required to choose, you are choosing even now, but you are not conscience of that, where you are going to end up in terms of the church, as the great centrifugal and polarizing forces are going to move us into one camp or the other.

We are going to be radicalized and there is not going to be any neutral ground for those of us who don't have stomach for that, who just want to be "Ordinary Christians", just get along, just be a Sunday pew-sitter, mind your business, not irritating anyone and just go on. I want to tell you, that that option wont be available to you.
To be an ordinary christian in this decade and the end of the age, will be to be apostate.
And God has never called us to be ordinary, He has called us to be extraordinary, he has called us to be apostolic.

It has always been God's intention for the church, from the beginning, how much more at the end.
A church of apostolic glory, of apostolic power, of apostolic integrity, of apostolic character, of apostolic service.
These are "they" that turned the world upside down.
These are also candidates for persecution and for martyrdom.

And we who have clucked our tongues at the reports of martyrdom that have come to us from distant places, "Iron Curtain" countries and Africa, need to embrace ourselves and to know, that that's not phenomena confided to the distant places.
It's a phenomena that will always take place, wherever God's people break in to a transcendent and real place with God that the world can not tolerate and abide. If we have got no way with it, it's a testimony to a our shame.
It's a scandal of western Christianity, that it has been so thinned, so inoffensive, so "going on with it's own Sunday business", that the world has not been required to take NOTE, let alone to OPPOSE it!

But I want to tell you that in a world that is coming to into consummation, in a SYSTEM that is OPPOSED to God, in it's very character and nature that is ANTICHRIST, those who will stand for Christ and refuse to take the mark of the beast, will find themselves candidates for martyrdom.

And if we cannot buy or sell, how then we shall subsist?
I think that we should now to begin to consider these things, and God is speaking these things now so as to prepare us and to feed us for the realities that shall shortly come to pass and are already working

I am not saying 'Thus saying the Lord' but I have suspicion that the issue of 'the mark of the beast' or 'the name of the Lord on our foreheads' is not the designation that is going to come to us in some final hour where we get stamped, but it is EVEN NOW being formed day by day and moment by moment in the transactions to which we give ourselves for convenience, for luxury, for security, in a SYSTEM that is that is increasingly HOSTILE and OPPOSED to God.
How much attenuated to luxury are we? How much do we need our security and how much we are willing to go with it?

As one who is possessed an American Express Card for about twenty years and paid my bills regularly, never paid the 18.5% exorbitant interest if you allow the debt to go beyond a month, I have finally broken it up and destroyed it.
Just felt constrained by the Lord to give it up, that there is something about it, that has .... a spiritual weight, a moral implication of a dependency on not upon God, but upon a SYSTEM established by men. I want to tell you something, it's a very naked feeling not to have that card in the wallet.

There is a whole intricate, complex SYSTEM that has been raised up in the world to which we have mindlessly subscribed!
And I suspect in my prophetic intuition that every time we get into that, we condescend to it, we go along with it, we buy and sell in it, we establish our security in it, we find our comfort in it, something is being embossed on our forehead and our hand, and the day of the Lord will reveal what number we bear!

You know what is apostate about the apostate church? It still continues to speak the vocabulary of the faith!
You still continue to use the terminology, you still call Lord, Lord, but the reality and the power have long ago disappeared, and not only that, it would be offended with that minority of the spirit that has not go along, and call them 'heretical'.

I am not saying these things to scare or to panic, but to prepare and to alert. We need to know what time it is, and it’s the Lord’s very mercy to speak to us in a such a way as to align ourselves with things as they in fact are.” And I am not saying things that non of us don’t know, but I putting it together by the grace of God to a such a way, that we might get a sense of totality of this in all inclusiveness of this and the direction toward which is going. You know many of us are Christians but are really humanists in heart. If we are scratched deeply enough we believe in inevitable progress, we think that the things will improve or the science has the answer. That is not the eschatological and apostalic sense of things as given into scripture. Scriptures indicate is winding down and coming to conclusion of an age that is helplessly and incorrectibly corrupt."

Knowing The Time by David Ravenhill

The Purpose of Difficulties and Trials by Zac Poonen

David faced many difficulties and trials over a period of about 13 years through which he finally became a man of God and a successful king.

Years later, he wrote these words: “You have tested me O God. You have refined me as silver is refined. You allowed me to be trapped in nets. You allowed heavy, oppressive burdens to be laid on my back. You allowed men to ride over my head. You took me through the burning fire and then through icy-cold water. But finally, You brought me out into a place of spiritual abundance and anointing, where my cup is now overflowing with blessing to multitudes of people. Praise the Lord” (Psalms 66:10-12 – free paraphrase).

Saul, on the other hand, grew up in a rich home, and went straight from that life of comfort to become a king. He never faced any trials or difficulties. So he never knew God and he was a failure as a king.

Solomon, who came after David, also never faced any trials or difficulties. He grew up in ease and comfort as a prince in the royal palace. He also became a failure as a king.

These examples teach us that it is only through trials and difficulties that we can know God and be effective and successful in our ministry. This was what made Paul such a successful apostle too (Read 2 Cor.1:4-11; 11:23-33). This is why many preachers today, who have become rich by preaching the gospel, and who live in comfort, are neither spiritual themselves, nor godly examples to their flock.

God may have called you to be His servant. But don’t imagine that you are ready to serve Him, just because you were called. If you don’t go through long periods of trial faithfully, you cannot be a spiritual leader of God’s people. You will only end up like Saul and Solomon, and destroy yourself finally. So God will have to first take you through long periods of trial and difficulties. He will allow others to misunderstand you and to be jealous of you. He will allow them to suppress you and to oppress you. If you humble yourself (like David did) and trust God, in all these circumstances, God will bring you forth one day, into a place of abundance and blessing.

He, who has ears to hear, let him hear.

"If we are not living for Christ and reaching out to the lost, sick, starving, hurting, persecuted people of the world, then it would be better for us that we never took the name of Christ upon ourselves. For on judgment day it would have been better if we had not been born."

Daily Readings with Basilea Schlink - August 11

Do not let happiness pass you by. You are being offered a life of joy and happiness, love and spiritual authority. This offer comes with a guarantee against disappointment — because the One making it is the Lord your God, who keeps His promises. In no time at all you could be happy and fulfilled. Just reach out.

When you open your hand, though, you first have to release your grip on whatever you are holding on to, possibly things incapable of ensuring happiness anyway, perhaps things which are not even good. Let go and place them beneath the cross of Jesus. God the Father has erected this cross out of love — the cross on which His Son hung so that we might find salvation and happiness. Only there can you find healing for your soul. Come to the cross daily with your sins and burdens. At Calvary they will be taken from you, and God will bless you and make you happy. Come to Jesus. He will fulfil the deepest longings of your heart.

Cry Out For Greater Manifestations of The Life and Power of The Holy Spirit by Paul Washer

Powerful video, well worth listening to this 20 minute segment of Paul Washer sharing on the power of the Holy Spirit.

Daily Readings with Basilea Schlink - August 10

You keep thinking, ‘Why does God, who says that He is a Father of love, lay this cross upon me?’ Do not keep your eyes on yourself but on Jesus, who entered glory through the cross. Your cross is meant to be a ship carrying you to the City of God, where you want to go. To this day there is no other way to glory.

It is the cross and suffering that prepare eternal blessedness for us, according to Scripture. So look forward with joy to the heavenly glory. In faith live even now as though already having attained the heavenly goal. Then the things that are difficult to bear will become easy.

THE CHURCH of GOD'S GLORY! -by David Wilkerson

"In that day shall the branch of the Lord be beautiful and glorious,
and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them
that are escaped of Israel" (Isaiah 4:2).

All through the Old Testament, the branch that is mentioned as
coming forth is none other than Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory.
According to Isaiah, there will be a church to whom He will appear
beautiful, excellent and comely. They will be passionately in love
with a Man whom they see as glorious.

Right now there is a remnant church that desires nothing but Christ.
He is the center of attraction and the people focus totally on Him.
These are the ones Isaiah refers to as being ". . . escaped of Israel"
(same verse). Indeed, the last-days church that will be filled with
God's glory is more than just a forgiven church. It is a holy church,
one that has been purged by the consuming fire of God's convicting
Word. Holiness and purity characterize its people. Isaiah adds,
"He that is left in Zion . . . shall be called holy, even every one that
is written among the living in Jerusalem" (verse 3).

The best evidence here that Isaiah is referring to the last-days
church is found in verse 5: "And the Lord will create upon every
dwelling place . . . a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining
of a flaming fire by night" (Isaiah 4:5).

Isaiah is predicting that God will create a new pillar and cloud to
cover His people. We know that when Isaiah prophesied this, the
pillar and cloud in the wilderness had already passed away.
Obviously, this was something that had yet to be created—a new thing!

The cloud has to do with direction and comfort, with preservation
from evil and terror, and with guidance. This means God's last-days
remnant people will have clear direction.

God is saying "I am going to see you through. Even in the worst
storm, you will have clear direction from Me because I will give
you a pillar of fire to lead you as I did Israel in the wilderness!"

WHAT THE LAW TEACHES by Watchman Nee

Many Christians are suddenly launched into the experience of Romans 7 and they do not know why. They fancy Romans 6 is quite enough. Having grasped that, they think there can be no more question of failure, and then to their utmost surprise they suddenly find themselves in Romans 7. What is the explanation?

First let us be quite clear that the death with Christ described in Romans 6 is fully adequate to cover all our need. It is the explanation of that death, with all that follows from it, that is incomplete in chapter 6. We are as yet still in ignorance of the truth set forth in chapter 7. Romans 7 is given to us to explain and make real the statement in Romans 6.14, that: "Sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under law, but under grace." The trouble is that we do not yet know deliverance from law. What, then, is the meaning of law?

Grace means that God does something for me; law means that I do something for God. God has certain holy and righteous demands which He places upon me: that is law. Now if law means that God requires something of me for their fulfilment, then deliverance from law means that He no longer requires that from me, but Himself provides it. Law implies that God requires me to do something for Him; deliverance from law implies that He exempts me from doing it, and that in grace He does it Himself. I (where 'I' is the 'carnal' man of ch. 7. 14) need do nothing for God: that is deliverance from law. The trouble in Romans 7 is that man in the flesh tried to do something for God. As soon as you try to please God in that way, then you place yourself under law, and the experience of Romans 7 begins to be yours.

As we seek to understand this, let it be settled at the outset that the fault does not lie with the Law. Paul says, "the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and righteous, and good" [Rom. 7.12). No, there is nothing wrong with the Law, but there is something decidedly wrong with me. The demands of the Law are righteous, but the person upon whom the demands are made is unrighteous. The trouble is not that the Law's demands are unjust, but that I am unable to meet them. It may be all right for the Government to require payment of $100 but it will be all wrong if I have only ten shillings with which to meet the demand!

I am a man "sold under sin" [Rom. 7. 14). Sin has dominion over me. As long as you leave me alone I seem to be rather a fine type of man. It is when you ask me to do something that my sinfulness comes to light..

If you have a very clumsy servant and he just sits still and does nothing, then his clumsiness does not appear. If he does nothing all day he will be of little use to you, it is true, but at least he will do no damage that way. But if you say to him: 'Now come along, don't idle away your time; get up and do something', then immediately the trouble begins. He knocks the chair over as he gets up, stumbles over a footstool a few paces further on, then smashes some precious dish as soon as he handles it. If you make no demands upon him his clumsiness is never noticed, but as soon as you ask him to do anything his awkwardness is seen at once. The demands were all right, but the man was all wrong. He was as clumsy a man when he was sitting still as when he was working, but it was your demands that made manifest the clumsiness that was all the time in his make-up, whether he was active or inactive.

We are all sinners by nature. If God asks nothing of us, all seems to go well, but as soon as He demands something of us the occasion is provided for a grand display of our sinfulness. The Law makes our weakness manifest. While you let me sit still I appear to be all right, but when you ask me to do anything I am sure to spoil that thing, and if you trust me with a second thing I will as surely spoil it too. When a holy law is applied to a sinful man, then his sinfulness comes out in full display.

God knows who I am; He knows that from head to foot I am full of sin: He knows that I am weakness incarnate; that I can do nothing. The trouble is that I do not know it. I admit that all men are sinners and that therefore I am a sinner: but I imagine that I am not such a hopeless sinner as some. God must bring us all to the place where we see that we are utterly weak and helpless. While we say so, we do not wholly believe it, and God has to do something to convince us of the fact. Had it not been for the Law we should never have known how weak we are. Paul had reached that point. He makes this clear when he says in Romans 7. 7: "I had not known sin, except through the law: for I had not known coveting, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet". Whatever might be his experience with the rest of the Law, it was the tenth commandment, which literally translated is: "Thou shalt not desire . . ." that found him out. There his total failure and incapacity stared him in the face!

The more we try to keep the Law the more our weakness is manifest and the deeper we get into Romans 7, until it is clearly demonstrated to us that we are hopelessly weak. God knew it all along but we did not, and so God had to bring us through painful experiences to a recognition of the fact. We need to have our weakness proved to ourselves beyond dispute. That is why God gave us the Law.

So we can say, reverently, that God never gave us the Law to keep; He gave us the Law to break! He well knew that we could not keep it. We are so bad that He asks no favour and makes no demands. Never has any man succeeded in making himself acceptable to God by means of the Law. Nowhere in the New Testament are men of faith told that they are to keep the Law; but it does say that the Law was given so that there should be transgression. The law came in ... that the trespass might abound (Rom. 5. 20). The Law was given to make us lawbreakers! No doubt I am a sinner in Adam; "Howbeit, I had not known sin, except through the law: ... for apart from the law sin is dead . . . but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died" [Rom. 7. 7 - 9). The Law is that which exposes our true nature. Alas, we are so conceited, and think ourselves so strong, that God has to give us something to test us and prove how weak we are. At last we see it and confess: 'I am a sinner through and through, and I can of myself do nothing whatever to please God.'

No, the Law was not given in the expectation that we would keep it. It was given in the full knowledge that we would break it; and when we have broken it so completely that we are convinced of our utter need, then the Law has served its purpose. It has been our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ, that He Himself may fulfill it in us (Gal. 3:24).

Commendations About SermonIndex.net

'I am grateful to the Lord for Greg Gordon and SermonIndex. I know of no other place where one can get so many free materials from people who have not flinched from the cross of Christ and have lived lives that we can follow. This site is just what the body of Christ needs to prepare us for our Lord's return.'
- K.P. Yohannan (International Director of Gospel for Asia).

'How I thank the Lord for this great website and ministry. I am thankful that they make known so many of my own messages given over the last 50 years around the globe and so many other great messages. We need to all make this site more known.'
- George Verwer (Founder of Operation Mobilisation)

'Sermonindex.net has done the Body of Christ a great service by compiling and cataloguing thousands of sermons related to revival. Congratulations on ten years of ministry.'
- Byron Paulus (Executive Director of Life Action Ministries)

'Tell me another place online where you can listen to sermons from giants of the past like A. W. Tozer and Duncan Campbell, from passionate men of God like Leonard Ravenhill and David Wilkerson and Art Katz, from women with burning hearts like Basilea Schlink and Jackie Pullinger. What a gift from God to this generation is SermonIndex! In an age of extreme superficiality and shallowness -- much of it driven by the Internet -- it is only fitting that the Internet hosts a deep, penetrating website like this. May the fire go forth from here and touch multiplied millions!'
- Dr. Michael L. Brown (President, FIRE School of Ministry).

'I enjoy using sermon index because it allows me to listen to messages from preachers who have gone on to glory. It is important that we remember we stand on the shoulders of giants. Hearing these voices reminds me, 'If it's new, it's not true.' These Biblically based messages allow us to check ourselves. They especially give preachers who have limited resources for sermon preparation, a valuable tool to enhance their study.'
- Michael Catt (Pastor, Sherwood Baptist Church).

'Thanks SermonIndex for the collection of so many worthwhile messages from such godly preachers, teachers and writers. We are benefiting greatly from the easy access to such powerful material. Thanks for all of your work and generosity toward the body of Christ!'
- Rich Carmicheal (Editor, Herald Of His Coming)

'Surely this instrument (SermonIndex) has been Divinely forged for such a time as this. An effective tool in the hand of the Holy Spirit with which He has stirred the hearts of many to expect God to visit us again.'
- David Legge (Preacher/Evangelist, Preach The Word).

'When I think of the ministry of Sermon Index Isa. 59:19 quickly comes to my heart. 'When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.' The enemy surely has come in, but God will engage him. Sermon Index is one of His ways to engage the enemy. Praise God for a clear standard and banner to rally the troops with.'
- Denny Kenaston (Author Of The Godly Home Series).

'God has uniquely raised up Sermonindex.net as one of the primarily websites for pastors, church leaders, and interested believers who are trusting Him for revival in our day. This website allows us to feast on the treasures of godly men both past and present whose hearts and ministries God has profoundly touched to bless the world.'
- Ralph Sutera (Revivalist, Used in the 1970 revival in Canada).

'Sermon Index has influenced the lives of many thousands of people in a profound way. Recently a man came to see me who had listened to one of my sermons on-line. He said his small group was brought to a place of tears as the Lord took His Word and spoke to their hearts. May the Lord receive all the glory, and may SermonIndex.net continue to provide the means for people to hear His Word.'
- John McGregor (Pastor, Glencairn Alliance Church).

'A few years ago a friend introduced me to the ministry of Sermonindex and I was so blessed as I listened to sermons by some of the spiritual giants of the past. What a wealth of powerful preaching that most of us would never have access to if it were not for Sermonindex. One can only wonder how God will use this ministry in the next ten years.
John Bennett (Director, Faith Mission in Canada).

'I believe that God has initiated Sermon Index for His Glory and His purposes. Listeners can encounter Him more intimately through the preaching and listening of messages that stirs and warm the heart. I am so glad that Greg Gordon has responded to the prompting of our Lord to provide such a practical tool that could at the same time be used as a catalyst of Revival.'
- Francois Carr (Founder, Heart Cry South Africa).

'I can't think of one time I've ever been disappointed while perusing the SermonIndex site. For those who are desiring to be fed with Christ-centered sermons and materials, there is no other place online that I recommend more highly than SermonIndex. Thank, SermonIndex, for 10 years of faithfully doing your part in spreading the Gospel of the Kingdom to the uttermost parts of the earth.'
- Scott Volk (Pastor, FIRE Church, Charlotte, NC).

'Holy men of God preached in olden times because they were moved by the Holy Spirit. Such preaching is what Sermonindex.net has so ably capsulated for the hearer. Listen and be transformed.'
- David Ford (Preacher/Evangelist, Globe For Christ).

'Sermon index has become my 'goto' site for kindling the hearth of my heart to a flame. Sermon index is a non commercialized site that provides heart rending sermons of a bygone era, with messages that are desperately needed for my heart and the body of Christ today.'
- Kevin J Turner (President of Strategic World Impact)

-Randy Jones (Pastor Of Christ Our Lord Church)

'Gordon started exploring old messages and old books after being left disatisfied by some contemporary preaching. Stirred by his discoveries, Gordon designed a web site committed to the preservation and propogation of classical preaching in its audio form for this generation and the next.'
-Karen Stiller (Faith Today Canadian Magazine, Full Magazine interview)

A Word From The Founder

It is interesting how almost 10 years have passed since this website ministry began. Initially, I considered it just a personal response to my relationship with Jesus Christ and very exciting to share these impacting sermons with others. As time went on God clearly revealed that He has a purpose and plan through this website. There have been many failures and times of great successes, but the only true consistency has been the focus, glorification and trust in the person of Jesus Christ. I wrote a short paragraph to myself many years ago and felt it worthwhile to re-read many times since. It is what I heard the Lord speaking to my heart one day:

Remember it is the work of the Lord! God began it and He will be faithful to finish it for His testimony and glory. You are just a little boy with a few loaves and fish to give to Jesus. Depend on Him, not on yourself nor your abilities, ministry experience or self-confidence. Remember! It is still: Not by might, not by power but by His Spirit. A time is coming when you will stand before God. Everything done for self-promotion, praise of men or success will be burnt away, just a heap of ashes! The will of your Heavenly Father should be your only concern.

May God continue to be glorified greatly in this work, and may it build His kingdom only.
-Greg Gordon

He is so passionate, that he "Ups" the anointing, as it has dovetailed into visions that he has had, and sorrows coming revealed in earlier revelation to him. Our Dependence Must Be In The Lord by Greg Gordon

"My heart is not proud, O Lord, my eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me. But I have stilled and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with its mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me. O Israel, put your hope in the Lord both now and forevermore." - Psalm 131 (NIV)

Psalm 131 gives us a wonderful picture of having dependence on God in our Christian walks. One of the root and primary needs throughout our walk with God on this earth is to cater and enjoy a trusting and cleaving to God's ways and His voice. Life has so many different choices, voices and distractions. We must be disciplined to build a hour by hour, day by day trust and reliance on the Lord. Do you see yourself as a weaned child in the arms of our Lord? Is your trust in His provision and strength or in your own abilities and cleverness. God never uses clever people. Those who are clever in their own ways, God in His love has to bring them to an end of themselves so they will trust in the ways of the Lord and not the arm of the flesh.

Jacob is a wonderful example of this truth. His name means supplanter, one who wants to replace or more simply put deceiver! How would you like your name to be deceiver, or supplanter! Jacob had in him that old nature which wants to have it his own way, with his own cleverness, tricking and always ending out on top. God wanted to use this supplanter, so he orchestrated a series of events till God could rename him Israel which means struggle with God or in a simple word: governed by God. Imagine that! going from being a clever supplanter to one that is being governed and controlled by God. This is where the Lord wants all of His children to be, in a place of submission and dependence on Him.

There is a clear warning in this passage that those who occupy themselves with great matters will end up walking in the flesh and the ways of self energy and striving. To accomplish the will of the Lord we need the mind of the Lord. This only happens as we "quiet ourselves" in His presence and learn of Him. The prophet Jeremiah declares: "Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength" (Jeremiah 17:5). If you find yourself in the place of trusting in your own abilities and trying to make the work of the Lord happen you will find your heart turning away from the Lord. You will still be busy with many things and to many people seem to be fruitful but your heart walk with Jesus Christ will not be there and the fleshly show will not be of any eternal significance. Only the work of the Lord done His way will build His kingdom. Many ministries, sermons, churches and works done in the Name of God will in the end just be a pinch of dust at the judgement seat. Flesh or anything of self must not be our support or means.

I have found myself many times going on in a work for the Lord and at some-point realizing that the Lord let me go on ahead without Him. We have all experienced this in some ways, it is like talking to an individual on the phone but the line was disconnected yet you continue to ramble on. This is just how it is in doing a work for the Lord without being in vital and intimate communion with Jesus. One of my mentors always reminded me that the safest place in our walks with the Lord was either to be following in the shadow of Jesus or holding His hand. Otherwise we are prone to run ahead of Him in our zeal for the things of God. Have you gone ahead of God in His work? Do you feel empty, tired and have been struggling in the arm of the flesh? Repent, turn around and come back to the Lord. "Quiet yourself" in His presence and learn to hear Him again. He wants to use you for His kingdom work but we must do it out of our love and walk with the Lord.

It is God's mercy who keeps us from building a kingdom of man in the Name of the Lord. That is one of my prayers: "Lord keep me from doing a work for my glory or name, may everything I do be done for your glory." Jeremiah also has some wonderful and positive encouragements for us: "But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him" (Jeremiah 17:7). What a wonderfully happy and content person you will be in the work of God if your confidence and dependence is in the Lord and in His sufficiency. Jesus said clearly that He will build His church. But sadly he will let us build our own churches if we want to. If your hope is in the Lord and constant expectation is from Him, you will "never fail to bear fruit" and as our Lord said in John 15 we will "bear much fruit."

May God find us as a weaned child today in His arms depending on Him.

SermonIndex celebrates an upcoming 10 years of ministry and over 20 million sermon downloads.

Contact: Greg Gordon, Founder of SermonIndex.net, 778-779-0097, sermonindex@gmail.com

ABBOTSFORD, CANADA, March 1, 2012 / Christian Newswire/ -- In the Evangelical Christian world there are few things that remain hidden to many as a great resource and treasure to the church. One of these hidden treasures to some is the website ministry of SermonIndex.net. This online ministry began very humbly just about 10 years ago when the founder Greg Gordon in his parents home ran across a book of Leonard Ravenhill's and when impacted by the message started to get this late preacher's sermons online. "I never really considered the website a ministry for the longest time; it simply began as a hobby," states Greg, "Only after the first million sermons where downloaded and many testimony letters came in that I realized God is powerfully using this website for His glory."

This "hobby" has now become one of the premier websites on the entire internet to receive free audio sermons by some of the best classic preachers from the past. Currently to date you can access literally hundreds of sermons from the famous preachers such as: A.W. Tozer, Leonard Ravenhill, David Wilkerson, Carter Conlon, George Verwer, Art Katz and many more. After almost 10 years of ministry, the website has expanded not only to host sermons but to run over 10 international conferences on revival where the attendance was free. Greg feels the style and burden of ministry is different than many other Christian organizations in the West: "I felt since the beginning to try and run the ministry for the lowest amount of resources while still maintaining the great impact for the kingdom." Perhaps unorthodox in some ways, Greg states some of the goals and principles of the work: "God told me never sell any of the sermon materials and to allow them to be copied for free personal use and free distribution." He continues, "We have never begged for money and have rarely made our needs known trusting God for all that is required to run the website and its outreaches."

To-date the website gives access to over 20,000 audio sermons in the mp3 format which can be downloaded to your computer or any modern media player. SermonIndex also offers materials in video, text and even some old vintage images of some of the classical preachers listed. Greg shares on the impact he has felt the website ministry has had over these years: "It is really hard to even gauge how God has used this ministry, we know roughly how many downloads are from the main site but we cannot even begin to estimate how many have been downloaded and listened to world-wide through other sites, radio, T.V. and other media outlets. Thus we give God 100% of the glory for His work and the way He is spreading these vital sermons to others."

Many famous leaders in the Church have commended this work and its almost 10 years of ministry now:

We end with a comment from the founder in which he wrote down many years ago and states that he has continually come back to read this to himself to remember that SermonIndex is a work of the Lord:

"Remember it is the work of the Lord! The will of your Heavenly Father should be your only concern."
